How to Survive A Plague

What makes an effective protest would be people who are actively gaining followers by showing interest and affection in their topic. There are different ways of protesting. Unfortunately, there are methods of which involve beatings in some scenarios and arrests in others. If the message is clear and gives off full meaning, then the protest has been heard and has been effective. Groups of people use protests mostly because they do not agree with the ways of how subjects or items are being presented or provided to them. There are many other ways that the AIDS activists could have gotten what they wanted and needed. The problem is that they do not have time to wait. They could have sent letters, emails, set up meetings, or even waited for a solution. The greatest problem is that the people with AIDS are dying day by day and are scared. These people are doing everything possible for a solution for their problems and have decided to go on with a more harsh approach. For example there were people laying in rows on the streets waiting to get arrested because they needed their voices to be heard. In some cases there were people who did not have the AIDS disease, they just wanted to help others.

In order to be great or get better, you should be wearing Nike, that is what the add is telling you. I am good, but not good enough because of the fact that I might not be wearing Nike training gear. The Nike training gear is "tested and proven by the U.S Woman's National Soccer Team forward Lindsay Tarpley." This is said to prove speed, power, agility, reaction, and quickness but only from Lindsay. Her better is better than our better. The add makes us feel as if we cannot live up to our full potential if we are not wearing Nike as our gear during training. The girl running is very slim fit and has high shorts on to represent what you should look like if you were a female runner.

What's Acceptable?

Growing up as a child I loved to play with remote controlled cars. They seemed to be the greatest invention of the time because I would always wonder how the remote could control the car from so far away. So for Christmas each year  and birthdays and such, I would always ask for a newer remote controlled car. But when the remote controlled planes and helicopters came out I was completely memorized. I couldn't believe it went from cars that drove themselves by remote, to planes and helicopters that could actually stay in the air with these remotes. This type of toy was acceptable for a boy growing up. But if a girl were to have a remote controlled car it would have seemed to be weird or socially unacceptable. I learned this because whenever I saw girls playing with a toy, it would have been a doll or a princess themed toy and that was socially acceptable. I never really had any thoughts of particular toys that I wanted to play with, but couldn't. I always played with guy themed toys and I was okay with that.

Lord of the Flies

Lord of the Flies

William Golding

The Lord of the Flies is a very interesting book because it touches basis with many life lessons that should be taught/learned by everyone. William Golding shows the theme of violence within the characters who are children, and must teach themselves their own life lessons. The biggest question is, are people naturally born with violence or are they taught violence as they grow older?

This book was very interesting to me and made me question the theme towards my life in general. Do I think that everyone is born with violence? The answer is no, I specifically think that children mimic what they see and hear as they grow up. Every major ghetto in the United States promotes violence such as compton, trenton, and chicago. These children growing up around these areas are seeing these types of actions on a day to day basis. Therefore, once they grow older they feel as if they have a need to be a part of it. In the "Lord of the Flies," William Golding cleverly uses children to broadcast these images of how terrible people can be to each other, no matter the circumstances.

Todd Mahady, Jack, Todd Falzone...

Meet Todd Mahady... or as some people call him... Jack, or Todd Falzone. Really anything is acceptable...

So I have recently had the pleasure to interview a friendly guy named Todd. He is very interactive and likes to crack some pretty funny jokes. I asked Todd about some of his strengths and weaknesses. He responded by saying that some of his strengths are that he finds himself to be a friendly guy that people seem to like to be around, which I can agree on. Todd says that some of his weaknesses are that he is "amost too friendly." He says this because he does not always take some situations serious. Todd feels as if being funny is both a strength and a weakness. He continues to say, "it's like professor Oak said from the pokemon games, there is a time and place for everything." "Sometimes people say like, hey wow Todd you're a comedic genious. Then there are other times where they say like, hey Todd like that's not funny this is your grandma's funeral."

I then continued to ask Todd what type of decisions are most difficult to him. He tells me that the decisions that affect a large group of people are the type of decisions that are most difficult for him.

Todd has made many accomplishments in his lifetime that he is very proud of. Todd attends Nazareth High School. We are in the same grade, but we never really get to talk to each other. Todd is a part of the high school's EPC sack team. He says, "That's awesome there are only a few of us in the league." Todd was also recently selected to attend the Keystone Boys State, which only a certain number of people from the state get to attend. He is also very proud of his football career and says that he hasn't done anything spectacular yet, but is proud of the recognition he is receiving. Todd sees himself either searching for an occupation in five years, or maybe even receiving his masters degree.

Todd's dream job is to be a school super intendant. He likes to be a part of the community and associate with the kids. He notes that the reason for this dream job is because it makes a lot of money, but he also has a fun time doing it.

Ryan's first blog

Hello! My name is Ryan and I have a very outgoing personality which allows me to make many new friends easily. With that being said I'd like to tell more about myself and how I live my life. I will be a senior in high school and currently attending NCC as a dual enrollment student for the fall semester. I play football and wrestle, but I prefer football heavily. During football season I dedicate the ten game weeks that we have towards getting better and looking to win a championship. I have been playing football since I was 12 years old. Another thing about myself I am very good with children. For some odd reason they all seem to think I am the greatest thing since sliced bread. I love eating spaghettio's cold and out of the can, but my mother is not so fond of it which I could understand... I am going to be honest and say that English is not my best subject ever but I give the most effort that I possibly can, which is all anyone could ask for. My favorite subject is history and science but I'm better at history. Growing up as a child I was obsessed with ocean animals and would buy picture books with information on them. I came to the conclusion that I wanted to be a marine biologist until I found out how much money they make, and how hard it is to find a job. I recently came to the new conclusion that I would like to work with children in some way. Being a role model plays a big part in my life, as well as it does to others being affected by me. The last thing about myself is that I love to laugh and try my best to keep a smile on my face because, lets be honest, no one likes a grouchy person.
